Young Heroes is a regional youth recognition awards program open to every 6th - 12th grader in Southwest, Central, and Southside Virginia. Young Heroes provides incentives and recognition to outstanding young men and women who have:

  • overcome adversity,
  • excelled in public service,
  • inspired others through their leadership, unselfish actions, and strength of character.

Nominations may be made by teachers, other school staff members, youth group leaders, Kiwanis Clubs and others.

The seventh annual Young Heroes Awards Banquet will be held at the Hotel Roanoke on "Young Heroes Day," Wednesday, May 10, 2006.  The awards will be presented at a formal dinner attended by community leaders, corporate representatives, and elected officials, with a nationally known speaker.  Winners and their families will stay at the Hotel Roanoke as guests of the Young Heroes program.  Also on that day, winners and their parents will be the guests of the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke at a luncheon at the Patrick Henry Hotel and will spend the afternoon touring the city with community mentors.

Deadline for entries is January 15, 2006.  Click HERE for an printable PDF of the application.
